# Breeding

### **How does it work?**

* **Pastures** (or “daycare blocks”) are the breeding stations where players place two compatible Pokémon, upon right clicking a pasture upon placement. You can select if it operates as a Breeding station or a Normal Pasture block.

When you open a pasture (right-click), it launches the UI in Daycare Mode View. This UI will:

* Display both parent Pokemon
* Shows held items and whether they influence breeding outcomes
* Predicts possible offspring traits or effects

**Pastures in "Daycare Mode" emit heart particles to indicate breeding activity. No hearts mean it is open for cosmetic purposes only.**

These Pastures generate eggs periodically on a timer.

### **Anti-AFK / Chunk Unload Compensation**:

If a pasture goes unloaded (e.g. due to chunk unload), it tracks the last active tick. When the chunk is reloaded, the Daycare calculates how many eggs *would* have been generated in that interim and produces them. This ensures players aren’t penalized for being offline or for chunks being unloaded. **This also means you do not need to stay in that chunk for continuous breeding to be successful!**

### **Incubators & Hatching:**

* You can retrieve eggs from a pasture block either with a hopper underneath or directly with an Incubator&#x20;
  * Copper incubators are available in /shop under 'Misc' for 25k!
  * Iron Incubators are a 5% chance from /vote keys
  * Gold Incubators are a 1% chance from /vote keys
  * Diamond Incubators are from [Player Level ](https://cobblemon-town.gitbook.io/cobblemon-town/server-features/player-levels/player-level-reward-list)30
  * Copper, Iron, Gold, and Diamond Incubators are all craftable(recipes in image below)
  * Netherite Incubators are from [Player Level](https://cobblemon-town.gitbook.io/cobblemon-town/server-features/player-levels/player-level-reward-list) 70
* Eggs produced by pasture blocks **do not hatch in the player's inventory**. Instead, they must be placed into an **Incubator**, a special container used solely for hatching.
* Each player can only have **one active incubator in your inventory** at a time.
* Incubators function similarly to *Ender Chests* regarding egg storage—they persist across dimensions and sessions.
* Incubators come in **tiers**, where higher tiers provide better or larger storage.
* After right-clicking the incubator it is player bound to you and cannot be used by other users. **Please do not sell/trade bound incubators it would be considered a server rule violation.**&#x20;

#### Tiering System:&#x20;

* Copper Capacity - 8&#x20;
* Iron Capacity - 64
* Gold Capacity - 32
* Diamond Capacity - 96&#x20;
* Netherite Capacity - 128&#x20;

#### Shiny Hunting:

* Shiny eggs will have orange spots and have a sparkling icon. The Pokemon stats will also feature a star in the summary.
* Shiny odds are 1/8092.
* With the Masuda Method, where both parents have different OTs, the odds go down even further!
* Pasture Blocks will tell you your current shiny odds at the bottom of the offspring screen

Shiny Boosters:

* Shiny Boosters are consumed by the pasture block and work for the next 5 eggs the pasture block generates.&#x20;
