# How to get Started!

## 🌱 Getting Started on Cobblemon Towns

Welcome to **Cobblemon Towns**! This guide will help you get set up, choose your starter, and begin your journey.

### 🧭 First Steps

When you first join the server:

1. **Read the Rules**\
   Press T to open chat and type  `/rules`  or check the Discord to understand the server guidelines and expectations.
2. **Teleport to Spawn**\
   If you aren’t already there, run:

   ```
   /spawn
   ```

   This is the main hub where you’ll find shops, warps, NPCs, and key locations.
3. **Choose Your Starter Pokémon**\
   You’ll be prompted to select a starter Pokémon. Choose wisely — this will be your main partner early on!

### 🏘️ Joining or Creating a Town

Towns are a core part of Cobblemon Towns that you unlock at [Level 5](https://cobblemon-town.gitbook.io/cobblemon-town/server-features/player-levels)!

* To **join an existing town**, ask in chat or check available towns in game with /towns or check Discord!
* To **create your own town**, you’ll need enough in-game currency and an empty area to settle.

Towns allow you to:

* Claim land and protect builds
* Build gyms, shops, and arenas
* Play cooperatively with other players

### 🎒 Basic Commands You Should Know

* `/spawn` – Return to the main spawn
* `/RTP` - Takes you to a random spot in Survival World
* `/town` – View town commands
* `/balance` – Check your money
* `/party` – View your current Pokémon team
* `/kit` - Redeem your Trainer Kit for Starting Tools
* `/warp` – Travel to key server locations such as:
  * `/Warp End` - Takes you to the End 
  * `/Warp Nether` - Takes you to the Nether
  * `/Warp Pokecentre` - Takes you to Spawn's Pokemon Center
  * `/Warp Arena` - Takes you to an Arena at Spawn
  * `/Warp Battletower` - Takes you to the Battle Tower at Spawn
* `/Expeditions` - Takes you to the [Expedition](https://cobblemon-town.gitbook.io/cobblemon-town/server-features/expeditions) Hub at Spawn

### ⚔️ Catching & Battling Pokémon

* Pokémon spawn naturally in the world based on biome, time, and weather.
* Use Poké Balls to catch Pokémon after weakening them in battle.
* Train your team by battling wild Pokémon or other players.
* Keep your team balanced with different Pokémon types.

### 💰 Earning Money Early

As a new player, you can earn money by:

* Catching and selling Pokémon
* Selling items via `/shop` that include a sell price or `/gts`
* Voting for the server with `/vote`
* Participating in events

### 🛍️ Shops, Warps & Features

Be sure to explore:

* **Player Shops** – Buy and sell items with other players
* **Crates** – Use keys from voting and events
* **GTS** – Trade Pokémon and items globally
* **Gyms & Events** – Test your skills and earn rewards

Use `/warp` to see available destinations.
